INTRODUCTION
Luiri Gold is a developing gold resource company with a strategy of creating shareholder value through the acquisition, exploration and development of gold opportunities in Africa. The current focus is at the Luiri Hill Gold Project in Zambia.
PROJECT IN HAND
Luiri Hill Gold Project, South-Central Zambia
Luiri Gold's wholly-owned Zambian subsidiary, Luiri Gold Mines Limited holds mineral tenements within southern-central Zambia covering approximately 1,200 sq.km of highly prospective exploration ground focused on the Matala and Dunrobin gold deposits collectively called the Luiri Hill Project. The Luiri Hill Project is situated approximately 120 km west-northwest of the Zambian capital of Lusaka in Zambia's Central Province. Access to the Project area is by a newly-upgraded paved road from Lusaka.
The Luiri Hill Project area is adjacent to ground held by BHP Billiton in Joint Venture with AIM Resources. This consortium has been actively exploring for iron oxide gold-copper ("IOCG") mineral occurrences.
Matala & Dunrobin Gold Deposits
The project area has significant potential for iron oxide copper-gold style mineralization both related to the Matala Dome mineralized structure where the Matala and Dunrobin gold deposits are being drilled, and the surrounding Katangan rocks.
The current NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate at the Company's Luiri Hill project (Matala and Dunrobin deposits) includes 656,000 ounces of gold (Inferred) contained in 7.1 million tonnes at 2.9 grams per tonne and 144,000 ounces of gold (Indicated) in 2.2 million tonnes at 2.1 grams per tonne. Results of the first phase of a RC 9,600-metre drilling program at six new targets on the Matala Dome structure confirmed that it is potentially a source of more gold than defined in the mineral resources at Matala and Dunrobin.
A metallurgical study on the Matala and Dunrobin deposits showed that the gold at both deposits appears to be free-milling and amenable to semi-autogenous grinding ("SAG") milling, and a conventional carbon in leach ("CIL") circuit had average recoveries of 95%+ at Matala and 87%+ at Dunrobin. There are high levels of gravity concentrate gold in each, averaging 65% and 57% respectively.
Nambala Iron Deposit
Luiri's properties also host the large Nambala iron deposit which is 20 km west of Luiri Hill. A review by Coffey Mining indicated that on part of the mineralized body there exists the 'mineral potential' of between 100 and 300 million tonnes of iron at grades of 55-60% Fe. Interpretation of the regional geology indicates that the iron contained in this deposit could be several times larger than this figure. Note that the potential quantity and grade is conceptual in nature, and there is insufficient exploration to define a mineral resource. The Company undertook an exploration and mapping project focused on iron mineralization in a section of the Nambala Range where the deposit lies.
Luiri Gold has commenced a 9,500-metre drilling program which will include both infill drilling at Matala and Dunrobin deposits and follow-up drilling at recently defined new targets. The drilling program aimed both at increasing and upgrading existing resources and testing the recently discovered drilling targets. The results of this work should enable Luiri Gold to expand the scope of the prefeasibility study to design a mining operation significantly larger than that envisaged on the current resource base.
The Company is also planning to conduct more follow up exploration to define a pipeline of medium-term drilling targets based on the regional soil geochemical sampling program over the rest of the Matala Dome mineralized structure. These include a number of targets which are in similar structural positions to the Matala and Dunrobin deposits. The Company is also continuing with its assessment of the Nambala Iron Project with a view to optimizing shareholder value from this asset.
